Architectural Chimera x Incompatible Voids
The studio develops intuitive, iterative modelling and re-collaging, rooted in carving and subtraction, to unveil complex architectural tectonics.
The studio’s brief re-framed the architectural void as a generative spatial force rather than a passive absence; capable of producing form, spatial logic and programme, where absence is actively constructed.
Drawing on Collage City, processes of re-stitching and collage in 2D and 3D served as both method and ideology as an approach to treat architecture as an assemblage of incompatible fragments. Influenced by Koolhaas and Tschumi, disconnected thresholds and spatial moments were intuitively deconstructed and recombined, yielding spaces that remained spatially beautiful and intricate.
The outcome is a ‘chimera’ – a composition of conflicting parts that draws on Gilles Deleuze. The void becomes a process of becoming; architecture is never fixed, but a continuous condition of conflict, multiplicity and transformation.
